The Magic Flute's success marked the beginning of a new era on the Seebühne. From now on, the Opera on the Lake would run for two seasons. The stage constructions became sturdier because they now had to stay put throughout winter too. An independent dramaturgy team was put together. Their goal was to reduce the audience's inhibitions and emphasize the idea of making theatre for everyone while pursuing high artistic standards. The "Bregenz Style" stands for the bold visualization of the themes portrayed in the Operas on the Lake. Even those who rarely visit operas could now understand the events on stage because the content and its emotions are easier to comprehend. This unique way of staging, the distinctiveness of the location and the outstanding atmosphere of open-air theatre are what makes Bregenz Festival so attractive.
