While two music theatre productions (Der Bettelstudent and The Fairy Queen) were performed on the Seebühne, the Martinsplatz in Bregenz's upper town, where in the 60s occasionally serenade concerts had been held, was discovered as a new venue. From then  on, Bregenz Festival started cooperating with the Theater für Vorarlberg in staging plays in the open-air. However, the double bill on the Seebühne remained a one-off. In the near future, only one performance per year would be given.
