Grand Opening of the Festspiel- and Kongresshaus
When the new Seebühne was opened in 1979, prior to the opening of the Festspiel- and Kongresshaus in 1980, it was a long-cherished dream come true: The Seebühne was now connected to the Festspielhaus, so if the weather suddenly turned bad, 1,700 of the 4,500 spectators could be accommodated for an indoor performance. The Seebühne was built on a concrete core that still exists today. The foundation rests on wooden piles.
