2013
Sold out Seebühne and not a single cancellation due to rain

259,425 guests turned the 68. Bregenz Festival into a huge success. Shortly after it premiered on July 17, The Magic Flute was already sold out. 202,663 people saw the Opera on the Lake during 28 performances. Thus, Mozart's opera drew level with Aida, which was the most visited opera in 2009. However, they both did not manage to break the visitor record of the musical West Side Story in 2003.

Towards the Light
"David Pountney makes the money roll in with Mozart's Magic Flute and demonstrates his good instinct for rewarding rarities by bringing André Tchaikovsky's The Merchant of Venice to the Bregenz Festival"
Opernwelt

But the Opera on the Lake was not the only production to meet the high artistic expectations and turn out to be a huge success from an economic point of view. Faithful to the motto Towards the Light the Bregenz Festival presented an opera highlight with the premiere of The Merchant of Venice while continuing their series of showing never before played works at the Festspielhaus. 3,795 people saw the opera written in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century by the Polish composer André Tchaikovsky (1935-1982).
