After being shut down in 2020 due to Covid-19, Bregenz Festival returned to the Seebühne with Rigoletto. The audience was eager for the festival to reopen its doors after the lockdown. The second year of Philipp Stölzl's production turned out to be a huge success with 99% of the tickets being sold.
Nero at the Festspielhaus

The summer festival opened with a rarity at the Festspielhaus: the opera Nero by the composer and librettist Arrigo Boito. Olivier Tambosi staged a spectacular production for one of histroy's most notorious characters. It was seen by 3,840 visitors, meaning 83% of the tickets were sold.
Upload - an interdisciplinary film opera at the Werkstattbühne

An Austrian premiere and an international co-production: The interdisciplinary film opera Upload cleberated its first show on the Werkstattbühne. Composer, librettist and director Michel van der Aa sought to discover possible consequences of outliving death by uploading your consciousness.
Two plays

The 1,280 visitors at the Theater am Kornmarkt experienced Heinrich von Kleist's historical novella Michael Kohlhaas from a new perspective in Andreas Kriegenburg's production.
In his latest work, Lohn der Nacht, the Vienna-born author Bernhard Studlar united diverse characters and places in a dynamic, funny and surprising way. The play that won the Österreichische Theaterallianz Preis in 2020 received an enthusiastic reception.
172 Organ Pipes

Artist Flaka Haliti designed a room for an audio-visual experience with 171 organ pipes at the Werkstattbühne. This became the set forthe premiere of Alexander Moosbrugger's opera Wind.
