Carl Maria von Weber loved the clarinet. Far before Der Freischütz was created, he composed several works for the famous solo clarinettist of the Munich court chapel, Heinrich Joseph Baermann. Among them, the Concerto in F minor. Sabine Meyer, who is one of the greatest solo clarinettists of the world, will play this piece in Bregenz. Conductor in Residence Enrique Mazzola is also part of the concert. He will present not only Emilie Mayer’s eerie instrumented Faust-Overture and Modest Mussorgski’s symphonic poem Night on Bald Mountain, which tells the myth of a witches’ dance on St. John’s Eve, but also a ballet suite from Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird
