Rain Cancellation
The Opera on the Lake is an open-air performance, which accounts for much of the special atmosphere on the Seebühne. The majority of our guests is willing to take a certain weather risk. Therefore, our policy is to proceed with the performance, even if the weather looks inclement. The decision on whether or not to go ahead with the performance outside, is taken only before its scheduled start. That is because despite today's high-quality forecasting technology, it is still difficult to determine exactly how the weather situation will develop. From 8 p.m. onward, weather updates are broadcasted regularly via loudspeakers all around the festival grounds. There may be delays and interruptions due to bad weather. We therefore recommend guests to bring warm and weatherproof clothing.
("gültig für See + Festspielhaus / keine Rückerstattung") are valid for the semi-staged version in the Festspielhaus | Großer Saal if the performance on the Seebühne is cancelled or plays for less than 90 minutes. These tickets are non-refundable. If a performance is cancelled and moved to the Festspielhaus | Großer Saal, Category 1PLUS and 1 seats are located in the stalls, Festival-Lounge and Premium seats as well as category 2 seats in the circle. Seats that are next to each other on the Seebühne may not be next to each other in the Festspielhaus | Großer Saal because of the different seating plans.
Please note that the performance on the Seebühne may last up to 90 minutes. In case the performance is transferred inside, we provide a checkroom for your rainwear.
("gültig nur für die Seebühne") are valid only for the performance on the Seebühne. If the performance is cancelled or plays for less than 60 minutes, the tickets are fully refunded. Alternatively, ticket holders can exchange their tickets to another date (subject to availability).
FINAL REHEARSAL
The general regulations for a cancellation due to rain do not apply to the final rehearsal. The performance is not transferred to the Festspielhaus | Großer Saal. You can, however, apply for a refund if the performance is cancelled within 60 minutes. Please contact your ticket seller for more information about the refund.
YOUNG PEOPLE'S NIGHT
The general regulations for a cancellation due to rain do not apply to the Young People’s Night. The performance is not transferred to the Festspielhaus | Großer Saal. The ticket price includes workshops, guided tours, entry to the Kunsthaus Bregenz and the vorarlberg museum and more. Therefore, the tickets are non-refundable.
It is a perfomance in which the orchestra and singers are on stage, but without a complete set of costumes or extensive scenic staging. Instead, the focus is put on the music and the singing.
Ticket insurance
In case you are unexpectedly unable to attend the event, the Bregenzer Festspiele suggest booking a ticket insurance. In many cases you will get a refund of the ticket value by the insurance company.
You can take out the insurance
- up to 30 days before the event
- or, if there are less than 30 days before the event, up to three days after purchasing tickets
Ticket return, Ticket exchange
In general, tickets cannot be returned or exchanged in accordance with our General Terms and Conditions. In certain cases, however, we can offer an exchange for a fee of EUR 8 per ticket. If you want to change your tickets to another date, please contact us by phone or e-mail for the details.
If you have already purchased tickets and now need a fully accessible seat or wheelchair seat, please contact our box office. Please provide us with all the relevant information about the seats you booked so that we can find a suitable solution for you.
If a performance is sold out, tickets can be returned for resale without guarantee. We charge a commission fee of 20% of the original ticket price. The decision as to which sales channels are used for the resale is the sole responsibility of the Bregenzer Festspiele.
Please note: There is no guarantee for a resale. Tickets that could not be resold, cannot be refunded.
Resale
Private Resale
Tickets may be resold privately as long as there is no intent to make profit. You need a valid ticket (original version) to be granted entry to performances, guided tours and introductory talks.
The Bregenzer Festspiele accepts no liability for the validity of tickets (analog and digital) from private ticket providers and advises against purchasing tickets on online platforms (e.g. Viagogo, ebay Kleinanzeigen...). As more than half of the tickets sold are e-tickets, there are signs of increased misuse when these tickets are resold. In these cases, it is not possible to verify the validity of the tickets. The risk lies entirely with the ticket purchaser. The Bregenzer Festspiele reserves the right to report any misuse.
The Bregenzer Festspiele may refuse to sell tickets and issue replacement tickets to persons who resell tickets for profit.
