Bringing to the stage ten brief encounters between pairs of characters, Arthur Schnitzler's scandal-causing play leads the audience into a wide variety of musical milieus. The Austrian ensemble Musicbanda Franui supports, accompanies and interrupts a reading of the entire play by actors Sven-Eric Bechtolf and Regina Fritsch. We hear carousel music from the Prater amusement park in Vienna, along with bel canto melodies, Bohemian country tunes, and compositions of the Second Viennese School. These pieces give rise to chance and intended dialogues, exactly in the spirit of Schnitzler's La Ronde.
