Duration: approx. 1½ hours
For the third time, the public have the chance to watch one of the greatest female singers of the 20th century in her work with young singers. The acclaimed Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender coaches, pushes, corrects and motivates members of the Bregenz Festival Opera Studio. Several months before rehearsals begin for The Marriage of Figaro, they prepare together for the demanding roles in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera.
Brigitte Fassbaender was for decades one of the most sought after mezzo-sopranos in the world and sang at the Bavarian State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera and Bayreuth Festival, among other top venues. Few people know the world of opera with its many different challenges as well as Brigitte Fassbaender does. When she retired from performing in 1995, she took up stage directing and from 1999 to 2012 worked as artistic director of the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck.
